Knowing what to do for weight loss is not your problem, its how to start and keep going!

It’s not that you don’t know what to do to lose and be in the shape you want to...

Or the health...

Have the energy...

You know you probably need to reduce portion size a bit...

Eat more vegetables...

Exercise consistently enough...

If you did that regularly enough you would make progress...

But knowing isn’t the problem, it’s how do you start and do those things often enough to see change?...

That’s the hard bit...

There are a few distractions along the way...

“Anything else with your coffee?” “Mummy I really can’t eat any more” “Let’s not eat rabbit food again, can’t we have steak and chips?”, it’s thingy bob’s birthday we are all going to that posh Italian” “I baked this cake, want a small slice (slab)” “it’s so late, we still have to eat-takeaway?” and it’s been a long day/week/play date/ let’s face it anything really- “I will poor you a glass or two”...

The things that pop up that can stall progress will pop up all the time...

And the route to success shouldn’t mean becoming a hermit...

But where there are situations at every turn to derail you...

How can you have the right mind set to start and stay on track?...

Well to start, you have to have one great big reason as to why you want to achieve what you do...

“I would like to lose a bit of weight will only take you so far”...

Maybe take that statement and ask yourself “why” five times and see what you come up with...

Where are all the clothes you long to wear again, probably hidden away?...

Then put them somewhere you can’t miss, that you have to see again and again...

Already got a holiday booked?... use a picture of the place as your screen saver...

Set alarms if you need to...

have the reason to lose and shape up so at the front of your mind, that when of those scenarios comes up...

You choose something different or compromise...

“Steak?” “Ok, but I will have a salad with it and just steal a few of your chips, because I know you like that” instead of totally joining in...

Do that and compromise with the different scenarios and before you know it, a different habit has been formed...

And another...

Baby steps is fine, but continue that...

It will then take you somewhere.

Do you believe you can lose and shape up?

Information at the moment is everywhere...

Literally at the push of a button...

When I first started helping people I used to think information was all people needed to get results...

And for some 20 years ago, maybe it was...

But just having all the answers and information as your disposal isn't always enough...

In fact honestly you probably have a realistic idea of what you need to do...

I commonly hear "I know what I need to do, but I can't get myself to do it"...

There are a few reasons for this and so many people feel this way...

To take big steps towards something, you have to have belief that you can achieve it...

Without belief, it leaves you unwilling to do what you know you need to do...

Without belief it's easy to get distracted by other things...

It's a reason why, I don't tell you just to focus on losing and shaping up, I want you to focus on the benefits personal to you, losing and shaping is just a catalyst to this...

But I want you to create the picture of these benefits until you can plainly see what actions are necessary and follow through...

I know there must be so many things in the past that promised so much and delivered so little or delivered but only for a short time...

I want to provide some inspiration to read and see what others have achieved and know there is a workable system behind it...

But it only works if applied, by all means take baby steps to begin, it will create momentum and progress...

You deserve to be in the shape or health you wish to be in, there are steps to get you there, you just have to believe or if that's a challenge, acknowledge that at least it's possible to achieve what you want to achieve and start from there...

You can do this...

How to keep your New Years weight loss resolution...

It's about now we start setting objectives for ourselves for the year ahead...

Obviously I am standing in your corner ready to help with anything weight loss, exercise and health related...

So when setting said objectives you can work out how much you want to lose, and then list all the things you are going to will yourself to do or to give up and go without...

Resolve to make this year different than last year and the one before that...

Although was that the same strategy as before?

Or you could focus on what you are going to get!

Make the goal inspiring...

How much more energy are you going to have? And what are you going to do with that energy what things could be accomplished?

When you lose and change shape, how much more in control of everything are you going to feel?
How good are you going to feel about yourself and amazingly proud of your accomplishments?

If you could do this, what else you go on and accomplish?

Wouldn't it be great to have that vitality and people always guessing that you are far younger than your actual age and you feeling it too!

Now is the time we start setting objectives, but make them so they inspire and excite you...

Not to have to rely solely on will power, make them so inspiring that you can feel the determination right from first thing in the morning and they continue to pull you along.

Here to help and Happy New Year!

Improving your Weight Loss Mindset...

When we are faced with a challenge like trying to lose weight and or improve our health through lifestyle...

We can get to a point where we try but feel like we are not getting anywhere...

Sometimes it's easy to give ourselves a reason not to keep trying, that leaves us stuck...

We start to say to ourselves "maybe this is just how I am"...

Or "I have always had a slow metabolism"...

"I am a big boned"...

"I have tried so many ways and it hasn't worked"...

"Because of an illness or my medication, it has made it harder to get results"...

The trouble is, once you except and believe those statements, they really do hold you back...

The above statements have truth, more than a decade ago I gained weight very quickly and was at my heaviest due to thyroid disfunction (gland that controls metabolism, amongst other things)...

I remember excepting that I would never be in the kind of shape I was before...

But luckily my job is to help others improve their lifestyle and be healthier, so I never stopped learning...

At a seminar soon after I gained knowledge that had almost been staring at me...

Eat natural foods, limit foods high in the body's preferred energy source and over time it will keep using its secondary source - body fat...

And sure enough...

But if I stopped looking, stopped applying I would have stayed the same, mediocre at best!

So yes, you may be on the back foot compared to someone else, age may be a factor, so may your previous lifestyle...

But that does not mean that is how it has to be, if you still want to change, you can...

You can move forward from whatever point you are now, but if you haven't changed shape or improved health for a while, then it means you will have to apply more to improve...

And no, you don't need to wait until after Xmas to start changing and implementing...

But start and stay committed and things will happen...

As always, use the comment section for comments!

Thanks,
Ed.

Weight Loss Motivation: Focus on what is going well...

Despite life getting in the way a lot of the time and despite our best intentions, being able to achieve a weight loss goal, lifestyle goal or any fitness goal is challenging.

Previously when I have run weight loss courses or even talking to someone about their goal, I always would ask "what is going well at the moment?"

Typically I would get short answers, but if I asked "what are your challenges?"

The reply would be a long and extensive list!

When I would take measurements, either results would be staying the same or slightly improving.

This tells me what they were doing right made up at least half of their habits.

But when asked it was a different story.

Which means we tend to focus a lot more on what we feel we can improve rather than what we are already doing that is working.

To fit any kind of exercise routine in each week takes time, so does preparing food and not to mention discipline.

To even be aware of what you are eating, or the fact that you haven't moved for a long time at work and it's time to walk around is a very positive one.

When it comes to food, we all have different attitudes and relationships with food, which can determine how easy it is to adopt certain or new habits.

I am lucky growing up some of the days were healthy food days, some not so healthy.

I think Lifestyle and eating habits wise this has given me a head start and made it easier now.

We all start from a different place and sometimes for different reasons.

Keep these reasons in mind, they will help with motivation.

They will help you decide what you need to do, but make a list of what you are already doing right, it's bigger than you think....

Weight Loss Encouragement.

When it comes to objectives, most people can more or less tell me what they need to do.

The part that is hardest is the doing it bit!

Paleo (based on natural foods, found growing or living) works because Nature provides , these were all the foods we needed that provided all the vitamins, minerals, nutrients and energy.

However now we manufacture many other foods.

Foods that contain calories but not much else.

However due to processed fat and or sugar they taste good!

Sugar was found to be as addictive as many banned drugs.

If we have forged a habit of eating these processed foods it's very, very hard to stop.

When we spike our blood sugar levels by eating high energy food, we get a crash, followed by the overwhelming impulse to spike the blood sugar again so we have some more high energy food!

It seems that we can consume far more of this food in one go than the healthy stuff because although it's energy rich it's nutrient low, it's hard to eat a lot of nutrient rich food.

I love creating content and simplifying the what and why and I'm working on a project that makes it even easier.

But, I can't do it for you, I wish I could.

I can show you what to do for great results, but I can't do it for you, no one can.

So I understand habits are incredibly hard to change.

But things don't have to stay the same, if you are aware of what needs doing, then it's time to make changes, even small ones, is there anything in the short term you can do differently?

Something that could make a big difference if you were to adopt a new habit?

If so, when can you start?

It doesn't matter how small the steps are, just challenge yourself every day to keep taking action.

It's why at least a third of the 100 points in my book are mindset ones, designed to encourage you to take action.

Weight Loss and being human...

When we are putting in effort and being disciplined to achieve a weight loss goal, it is easy to get despondent and allow ourselves to contemplate quitting if we lapse.
Really if we are having the odd lapse, we can merely just confirm that we are human!
Admitting defeat means we are turning our back on our goal that could bring about life changing benefits.

The only time we admit defeat is when we give up.
When we should just evaluate what led to the lapse and develop a better plan to prevent a re occurrrance so that we could act differently if faced with the same outcome?
For instance, If we over eat at a meal was it because our last meal was so long ago that we were hungrier than usual and consumed more in one go. Could we just find a convenient way to have healthy snacks to bridge the gap between meals.

Could we tell family or those we work with what we are trying to achieve and what it would mean to us, so that they knew not to even offer us certain types of food, to help and support us.

Except that you are human, lapses may occur, it's just part of the learning process, we just need to decide if there is a way we could do something different next time, as soon as possible just keep following the plan and lifestyle habits that have already bought about progress, if it's working keep doing it! If not reevaluate your plan.
